Secondment to the Manchester Evening News
I undertook a brief secondment to the Manchester Evening News following the Manchester Arena Terror Attack in 2017.

Brief
When the terror attack took place at the Manchester Arena following a concert by Ariana Grande, the newspaper group put a call out to all its sister papers, asking for journalists to come to support the team in Manchester. I responded by jumping in the car that evening and heading to Manchester for two days of reporting on what was the biggest news story in the world.
On day one I was sent to the North Manchester Jamia Mosque, to take part in a peace walk from the mosque to the arena. I recorded the walk on Facebook Live, interviewing members of the public, including the mosque’s Imam.
I wrote a corresponding story for web and print.
The second day took me to Moss Side in Manchester, where I reported from the terror suspect’s street, while police searched the property.
Results
The Facebook Live footage became the most-viewed video in the newspaper group’s history, garnering 1.6 million views.
Later that year, I won the NCTJ Trainee Multimedia Story of the Year Award.
